Ed Sheeran performing surprise gig in front of Ipswich Town Hall

Ed Sheeran has surprised shoppers and residents in Ipswich with a gig in front of the town hall.

The Suffolk superstar announced on his Instagram page that he was in the town and was going to perform a free gig.

He said: "I am in Music World in Ipswich and I have just bought a guitar.

"I am going to go to Ipswich high street by the town hall. I'm going to play a free gig, anyone in Ipswich come on down."

Large crowds have already gathered to watch the Shape of You star perform.
