Field fire off Woodbridge Road in Newbourne sees crews create farm machinery firebreak




Fire crews battling a field blaze near a Suffolk village today were forced to use farm machinery to help stop the flames.

Two crews from Ipswich East and Woodbridge were called to the stubble field fire just off Woodbridge Road in Newbourne at around 3.25pm.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue spokesman said the fire covered half a hectare of land.

Firefighters used farm machinery to create a firebreak and stop flames from spreading, while they worked to extinguish the fire.

A stop was called half an hour later and a spokesman said no one was injured.
