Ipswich police cordon off 100-metre stretch of Friars Street after unidentified package is found near building




A police cordon is in place and roads have been closed after an unidentified package was found in Ipswich.

The package, which was found next to a building in Friars Street, near the iconic Willis building, has prompted police to set up a 100-metre cordon.

Explosive ordinance disposal crews are on route to investigate.

Road closures will also be in place in Friars Street and the surrounding area.

A Suffolk Police spokesperson thanked the police for their patience and understanding.

At 4.29pm, the situation is still ongoing.
