Man's body found in River Orwell at Ipswich after clothing found on bridge




The body of a 22-year-old man has been found in the River Orwell at Ipswich.

Police were called to Orwell Bridge just before 5.30am today after receiving calls from members of the public who were concerned for the safety of a man.

Officers discovered clothing on the bridge and launched a multi-agency search involving paramedics, fire crews and the coastguard.

The body was found in the water shortly after 7.40am.

A police spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

He added: "Next of kin have been made aware and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course."
