A body has been found in the search for a missing man from Ipswich.

Ramaswamy Jayaram, 56, left his home at 5.45am on Sunday and has not been seen since.

Police searches of the nearby area – particularly in and around Orwell Country Park - were taking place on Monday, assisted by Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and HM Coastguard.

Mr Jayaram was last seen wearing a dark blue/black jacket, light blue jeans and black trainers.

Officers said his disappearance was out of character.

His car, a grey Citroen C1, was later found in the Ravenswood area.

However, Suffolk Police said a body was found in Braziers Wood at 9.25am today by a member of the public.

Although the person has yet to be identified, Mr Jayaram’s family have been notified.

The death is being treated as unexplained, but is not believed to be suspicious.

A file will be passed to the coroner in due course.
