Ipswich plans lodged to build homes behind grade II* listed former Tolly Cobbold pub The Margaret Catchpole Inn, in Cliff Lane
New homes could be built on the site of a popular Ipswich pub.
Tivoli Chang, of CPC Planning Consultants Ltd, has submitted plans for four dwellings next door to the grade II* listed Margaret Catchpole Inn, in Cliff Lane.
If approved, each home would each contain three bedrooms and be built on vacant land behind the pub.
Access to the site would be gained from Cliff Lane and an existing outbuilding would be converted into a small car parking area.
Existing trees in Cliff Lane will remain in place, as will the bowling green and the pub’s car park.
The pub will continue to operate as normal, Ms Chang said.
The Margaret Catchpole Inn opened in 1936 and used to be run by Tolly Cobbold.
Its namesake was the famous servant and adventuress who worked for the Cobbold Family before being deported to Australia in 1801.
The proposals are expected to go before planners soon.
