Flood warnings have been issued for parts of Suffolk and Essex as further rain is forecast.

The Environment Agency has released alerts for minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths lying along the River Stour and River Orwell estuaries between 1.30pm and 3.30pm today.

This means low-lying areas between Felixstowe and Clacton, including Ipswich, may be flooded during this period.

Flooding could be present in low-lying areas in south-east Suffolk and north Essex.

Felixstowe seafront flood gates will be closed.

Pin Mill waterfront and The Strand in Wherstead under the Orwell Bridge may be flooded.

Water could also be on the quay in Mistley, across the border in Essex.

The agency said: "We don't expect any escalation of further alerts to be required over the next few tides.

"Residents should take care on coastal roads and footpaths and not put themselves in unnecessary danger.

"We will operate our flood defences as required and will work with emergency services."
