A14 Orwell Bridge Ipswich lorry crash sees air ambulance called and man taken to hospital




An air ambulance was called and a man was taken to hospital after a serious lorry crash on the A14 at Ipswich this morning.

The major route was completely blocked between junction 56 and junction 57 at the Orwell Bridge after the incident, which took place at around 11am.

A National Highways spokesperson said a lorry crossed through the central reservation from westbound to eastbound.

One ambulance, two ambulance officer vehicles and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were called to the crash.

A man was transported by road ambulance to Ipswich Hospital for further assessment and care.

One lane eastbound has reopened and one lane westbound remains open. Lane two of both carriageways remains shut for structural checks and repairs.

A police spokesperson said closures will likely remain until tomorrow morning while repairs are carried out.
