In the wake of the win, the Blue Army have spoken to SuffolkNews to express their joy at the promotion and what it means to them.

Mark, of Ipswich, is a season ticket holder and was there the last time they were promoted.

He said there were severe nerves at the start of the game.

Mark said: “At the final whistle, everyone went crazy. We didn’t think we would do it.

“Once the first goal went in, we could relax a little bit. Everyone was jumping around chanting ‘we’re going up’ and we’re trying to keep calm, but when Hutchinson scored the second, that was it. It was amazing.

“I was here last time they got promoted. My son is 21 and it was good to be able to enjoy this experience with him.”

For Ollie Kirby, of Stowmarket, the victory came as a relief.

“I’m so happy, it’s been a long time coming.”

John Hurn, also of Stowmarket, thought it was a ‘cracking win’.
