Youngsters warned: Stay out of the pond
Youngsters risk drowning when swimming in a dangerous pond, police have said.
Police have received numerous complaints about children and young people going for dips in the pond at the Haverhill Research Park.
The incidents are occurring as the weather gets warmer and young people look for places to keep cool.
As well as leaving litter at the site and using life buoys as rubber rings, officers are concerned that people are putting their lives at risk while swimming in the pond.
PCSO Lorna Chapman said: “The water is murky. You just don’t know what is down there when you jump in. It’s more dangerous than it looks.
“It is quite a deep pond and there are a lot of weeds. Someone could easily get their foot stuck and drown.
“Parents need to be mindful of where their children are and where they have been swimming.”
Anyone who sees anything should call police on 101.
