Jean Merritt, 86, of Linton, dies after crash on A1307, near Horseheath, between Linton and Haverhill




A woman has died following a two-vehicle crash between Linton and Haverhill on Friday night.

Jean Merritt, 86, of Wheatsheaf Way, Linton, was driving a blue Daihatsu Sirion when she was involved in the collision with a blue Nissan Micra, on the A1307, near Horseheath, at about 7.30pm.

Emergency services attended and she was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where she died on Monday.

An 85-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, is still being treated in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Nissan, a man in his 40s, suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
