Police believe Haverhill assaults are not linked
Two men have been hospitalised after suffering injuries in violent attacks that took place within 15 hours of each other and less than half-a-mile apart in Haverhill.
Despite the attacks on Tuesday, one in the early hours and the other in late afternoon and their close proximity to each other, Suffolk Police has confirmed that they are not linking the two incidents.
A spokeswoman for the police said: "Officers can confirm that both the incidents are targeted attacks and there is not any belief that there is any wider threat to the public and we do not believe that there is any link between the two incidents."
The first incident took place at about 1.30am on the Recreation Ground, close to Clements Lane and Recreation Road.

The man – who is aged in his 30s – had sustained wounds to his head, neck and body and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment where he currently remains in a stable condition.
As a result of the assault a cordon was put in place in nearby Crowland Road and Castle Lane until about midday on Tuesday while officers carried out forensic work, along with CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.
The second assault took place in Balmoral Drive, on the Parkway estate, just after 4pm on Tuesday.
The victim, thought to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a single stab wound to the shoulder and, at the time the Echo went to press,was in a stable condition.
Officers remained at the scene and conducted initial enquiries.
Enquiries into the two attacks are ongoing and the public, added a police spokeswoman, can expect to see reassurance patrols conducted in the areas where both attacks happened over the coming days.
