Trio of Haverhill Silver Band musicians impress competition judges

Players from Haverhill Silver Band came back with an impressive array of trophies from the EABBA’s solo and quartet competition held in Norwich on Sunday.

Tim Pannell, the band’s principal cornet player, won both the open slow melody and the open air varie sections, being praised by the adjudicator for his musicality and control.

Antony Sanders, principal euphonium player, came second in the open slow melody section, whilst Florence Wilson-Toy, principal cornet of the Haverhill Youth and Community Band, was awarded second place in the Under-18 slow melody section (also being presented with a cup for the best player under-13 years of age) and at this tender age also came third in the open air varie section.
