Haverhill town centre street set to reopen after being underwater
A road in a Suffolk town that had to close due to a burst water main is due to reopen later today.
Duddery Hill had to be closed yesterday by Anglian Water after a main burst and flooded the street.
Repairs have been carried out and the Haverhill road is, according to a statement issued a short time ago by the water company, scheduled to reopen today.
An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “We had to close Duddery Hill for emergency repairs to a burst water main which has been more complex than originally planned.
“To carry out this essential work, we needed to close the road so that we could keep our people and other road users safe.
“We have now completed the repair and while we put things back to the way they were, we’ll need to keep the road closed.
“All being well, this will be completed by the end of the day. We appreciate this can be very frustrating and we would like to thank our customers for their patience while we complete this work.”
