Thieves target catalytic converters in Mildenhall, Haverhill and Newmarket

There has been a spate of catalytic converter thefts across Suffolk with vehicles in Mildenhall, Haverhill and Newmarket targeted.

Converters were stolen from two Ford Galaxy vehicles parked in Trinity Avenue in Mildenhall between 11.45pm on Thursday, July 16 and 3pm on Friday, July 17.

Another Ford Galaxy parked in Nat Flatman Street in Newmarket was targeted between 10pm on Thursday and 7.30am on Friday.

The whole exhaust system was stolen from a Mercedes Sprinter van parked in Rushmere Place in Haverhill between 3.30pm on Tuesday, July 14 and 6.30am on Wednesday, July 16 and another Sprinter van parked on Duddery Hill in the town also had its exhaust taken between Thursday July 9 and Thursday July 16.

A resident in Bartlow Place in Haverhill was awoken by a drilling noise around 4.20am on Thursday July 16 and looked out to see a man near a Ford Galaxy. He shouted out and saw the man run off and get into a black vehicle that was then driven away.

The resident went out to check the Galaxy and found a large section of the exhaust had been cut away.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour in any of these areas at the relevant times.
