Haverhill in Suffolk revealed as one of the best locations for stargazing in the UK
Research conducted for Global Astronomy Month has revealed that Haverhill is one of the 'ultimate destinations for stargazing', in the UK.
The town has come in at joint eighth on a list on the country's best locations to see the night sky, with a star visibility score of 70.8.
According to the research, Haverhill has an artificial brightness score of just 696 μcd/m2, guaranteeing low light intensity and a dark sky.
Scores were based on light pollution, the luminance of the night sky, and comparing sky brightness against natural brightness.
The study has been published by BestGambling.Sites.com, who used it to predict the best and worst locations for stargazing this April, ahead of Dark Sky Week (April 15-22). Global Astronomy Month takes place each April.
