Haverhill Running Club takes to the streets to help Haverhill Foodbank

The wet weather didn’t put off the brave members of Haverhill Running Club last week as they took part in a run that benefitted those struggling to afford food.

A total of 24 runners from the club took part in the event which started at Haverhill Leisure Centre, in Ehringshausen Way, stopping off at the Haverhill Foodbank warehouse in Hollands Road, before going back again.

Runners each carried with them a donation of a single item of food for the Suffolk foodbank as they ran.

It was enough to fill a shopping trolley with items at the end of the night.

Warehouse manager, Vicky Chandler, said: "A big thank you to everyone from the running club who organised the event and to those who donated, and carried, items.

“It was a lovely evening and very kind of everyone to run in the awful wet weather!"

Running club chairman, Mark Novel, said it had wanted to do something to help the community and hope to repeat the event in the warmer months.
