Police officers on patrol in Haverhill find drug paraphernalia in play area on the Chalkstone Estate




Drug paraphernalia was found in a town play park as police officers searched for weapons and other items that could cause harm.

The items found at a play area on the Chalkstone Estate, in Haverhill, were disposed of by the police, who were carrying out a ‘beat sweep’ of the area over the weekend.

Play equipment was checked as part of the search.

Officers from south and east Haverhill patrolled parks and open spaces on the estate, and the old railway line footpath, as part of the national Op Sceptre anti-knife crime initiative.

In a Facebook update, officers said numerous families were spoken with while they were in the area.

They said: “It was good to see the people out using the parks and recreation areas properly.”

The officers also visited those vulnerable to exploitation by befriending and one person was stopped and search under Section 1 PACE 1984.
