New monthly car boot sale in aid of Haverhill Show

A new monthly car boot sale is being held in Haverhill to raise money for the Haverhill Show.

The first sale will take place on Sunday, May 5 at the Recreation Ground in Haverhill.

The sales have been organised by the Haverhill Show committee and are being sponsored by local businessman Matt Drayson, from Matt Can Clear It.

Mr Drayson, whose company offers waste clearance and skip hire in Haverhill and the surrounding area, said: “I am really keen to give back to the community who have been so supportive and helped the ‘Matt Can Clear it!’ business grow over the past few years.”

Mr Drayson said that sponsoring the car boot sale would help people to repurpose or re-use old items rather than just throwing them away.

“The Haverhill Show committee work really hard to help raise money for community groups, it was the least I could do to help. I hope the whole community gets behind these car boot sales and makes them a real success.”

The car boot sales will be held on the first Sunday of every month from May until August. They will start at 7am and finish at noon.

Haverhill Show committee chairman, Joe Mason, said: “It’s great having Matt as a sponsor for these car boot sales, supporting us with our main aim of raising funds for local charities and good causes.”

In the past, causes supported by the Haverhill Show have included Haverhill in Bloom, the Joshua Tarrant Trust, who support children with brain tumours, and Reach who run a food bank and debt counselling service in Haverhill.

Mr Mason, 49, said: “Money raised from these car boot sales will help us put on a bigger and better Haverhill Show and contribute to the pot of money we can share out to this year’s beneficiaries.”

A pitch will cost £8 for a car, and £12 for a car and a trailer, or a van. There will be no entrance fee for buyers.
