Myths and legends gather for Kedington Meadowlark

Some were Grimm, some were Spicy and some were leprechauns, but all were one thing - characters that featured in this year’s Kedington Meadowlark walking pageant.

Saturday’s pageant on the Great Meadow formed the focal point of the final main day of the 2015 Meadowlark, ending a week of events throughout the village, all organised by the Kedington Community Association.

Each of the eight teams in the pageant dressed for the theme of myths and legends and were judged for the best fancy dress by Miss Meadowlark, Ella Ketteridge, 13, and her attendants Joseph Hondo and Millie Roach, both 11, before going on parade.

The winners of the fancy dress competition were the 1st Kedington Cub Scouts, including 46 children, who all dressed as characters from Robin Hood and His Band of Merry Men.

The runners-up were the Kedington Brownies, who went as Camelot.

Other entries included The Older Spice Girls, aka Ketton Bowls Club, leprechauns (Ketton Early Birds), Greek gods (the Beavers), Chinese dragon (Kedington Guides), mermaids (Kedington Rainbows) and Grimm fairy tales (Kedington WI).

A performance arena featured the Dynamite Majorettes, a dog show and country dancing and there were many other attractions, games and stalls for Meadowlark patrons to enjoy.

About £4,000 is thought to have been raised during Meadowlark, although the final total is not yet known.
