Last chance to have a say on Haverhill’s future

Members of the public are being urged to have their say on the future development of the town before the consultation period closes next week.

People have until July 17 to comment on plans for the town centre masterplan, which will shape the way the town progresses in the coming years.

A drop-in event will take place at Haverhill Leisure Centre on Saturday (July 11) to enable members of the public to view and ask questions about the draft town centre masterplan.

Present from 9am to 1pm will be ONE Haverhill Board members. Members of the public can have their say now online at www.onehaverhill.co.uk where they can also download a copy of the draft plan or by picking up a questionnaire at public locations in the town including the library, Haverhill House and Haverhill Arts Centre.

The six week consultation which started on June 8 closes on Friday 17 July.

Sarah Howard, chairman of ONE Haverhill Board, said: “This is our final public event where people can come along and ask questions about the draft plan and give their views.

“With just days to go after this event until the consultation ends on the 17th, I urge anyone who lives, works or visits Haverhill to make their views known on what they want for their town centre. Please don’t think that others in the community will give their views so yours do not matter. Your views matter. It’s your town centre.”

David Lock Associates, the independent planning experts who have created the plan, say the draft masterplan aims to be aspirational, realistic and deliverable. They hope it will bring development opportunities and improvements to Haverhill town centre. It has plans for more shops, cafes and restaurants, improvements to the bus interchange and the High Street as well as new places to live and work in town.
