Haverhill Research Park company CodiKoat continues to grow
A company that started life at the EpiCentre, at Haverhill Research Park at the height of the Covid pandemic with a ground-breaking technology that kills viruses and bacteria on surfaces within seconds, is on the expansion trail.
Founded in 2020, CodiKoat is now growing into more space at the EpiCentre, recruiting new staff and launching new products.
It now has its own dedicated chemistry laboratory space with six desks alongside four microbiology spaces.
Its world-class scientific team is also growing, with a number of new roles advertised so far this year and further positions to be advertised in the coming months.
And following a trial at The Stephen Perse Senior School in Cambridge, the innovative Vent-Axia PureAir Room 500 X Air Purifier, which is powered by CodiKoat technology, has now been launched onto the market.
It removes and kills harmful particulates from the air, breaks down pollutants and neutralises bad smells in seconds.
During the pilot at the school the air purification system was installed in classrooms, the gymnasium and the dining hall, and was operational from the start of term in September 2022.
Filter samples which were analysed in that time showed no reduction in efficacy of the system, with all filters remaining 99.9 per cent effective at removing airborne pathogens and viruses throughout the testing period.
On the breakthrough, CodiKoat co-founder Matin Mohseni said: “We were delighted to be working with the Stephen Perse Foundation to help keep their pupils and staff safe, and were thrilled to see the incredible results of this pilot in a bustling school environment.
"We look forward to seeing HEPA Plus deployed in schools, offices, and workplaces around the world to help combat airborne virus transmission.”
The EpiCentre was amongst the first in the world to feel the benefits of the Vent-Axia PureAir 500 X air purifier, with one being gifted for use in its communal café, The Hive.
EpiCentre centre manager, Andrew Bell, said: “This is great news both for The EpiCentre and CodiKoat.
"The company’s expansion has been helped by building owner Jaynic’s decision to provide more laboratory space at the EpiCentre.

CodiKoat was founded by three ex-students of Cambridge, Imperial and UCL and who each completed their PhDs in relevant fields.
