Haverhill street cordoned off by police after a 'serious assault'
The road outside a Haverhill primary school is currently closed while police investigate an incident of assault.
Although Haverhill police has confirmed that Place Farm Primary Academy is in no way affected by, or involved in, the incident, the section of Crowland Road that runs alongside the school has been closed off by police.
The closure is between the Crowland Road junctions with Burton End and Castle Lane.
Diversions are in place for anyone wanting to use that stretch of road.
A comment posted by Haverhill Police on social media this morning says: "Police are currently on a scene on Crowland Road following a serious assault that occurred in the early hours.
"Road is closed to vehicles and pedestrians while police investigate.
"Diversion via Castle Lane, North Avenue and Burton End.
"Place Farm Primary Academy is open as normal and is not involved or affected by the investigation."
