Haverhill man takes on Three Peaks Challenge

A Haverhill children’s author and illustrator took on the national Three Peaks challenge to raise money for Heart Research UK.

On July 4, Carl Mynott, 39, climbed the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon respectively, in 24 hours.

Carl said: “I have had overwhelmingly positive support, some bewilderment at what I am taking on and some concerns from close family and friends worrying that I might actually do myself in. My mum and dad have been awesome supporters, driving me to and from events and cheering me across the line. Some folk have sponsored me who I have never even met before. This is such a positive experience for me; I can’t begin to describe it adequately. My kids just want their dad to stop coming through the door all sweaty! “

Heart Research UK National Director, Barbara Harpham, said: “Carl knows how important heart research is for saving lives.

“Over 2.3m people are living with heart disease in the UK, so our work in funding research is extremely important. We spend £1 million a year on research projects so what Carl is doing is amazing and really inspiring.”
