Haverhill Echo archive photo - identity revealed

After this photo appeared in the Echoes of the Past on August 6, in which we asked for help in identifying this police officer holding a football, a number of people got in touch to let us know who he is.

Those who got in touch included Haverhill Rovers manager Michael Shinn, who explained that the man in the picture is Nicky Smith, a former professional footballer and ex AFC Sudbury manager.

Pc Smith also served as an officer in Haverhill, as confirmed by his former colleague, Claire Fuller.
