First ever Steeple Bumpstead 10km race and fun run will boost village pre-school
Steeple Bumpstead will host its first ever 10km race and 3km fun run on Sunday, June 21.
The two runs are being staged by the Steeple Bumpstead Pre-School in an effort to raise some funds for the work it does with local children.
Both races start and finish on Camping Close - behind the village hall - with the longer run off at 10.30am and shorter distance setting off at 10.35am.
Speaking on behalf of the pre-school’s committee, Denise Lilley, said: “We are keen that this first event goes really well, so that hopefully there will be an appetite from the village and local runners for this to become an annual event as suggested.
“So far lots of the villagers as well as Haverhill locals have signed up to take part on the day and join the post race festivities, where there will be a BBQ, Ice Creams, Refreshments, Bouncy Castle, all locally sourced as well as lots more fun stalls for the children and grown ups.”
Entry to the 10k race is £9 (£10 on the day), with the 3k run £5 (£7). A family ticket, for two adults and up to three children, is £15. To enter visit www.entrycentral.com/event/103319..
The village hall has changing facilities, toilets, parking aplenty and first aid and there are prizes for the top three male and female finishers in the 10k, plus the first boy and girl in the fun run.
