Police appeal after purse thefts from Peacocks in High Street, Haverhill
The daughter of an 85-year-old who had her purse stolen in a town centre store said her mum has been left shaken to the core.
Police are urging witnesses to come forward after two elderly women had their purses taken as they shopped in Peacocks in High Street, Haverhill between 2.30pm and 2.35pm on Wednesday.
Zoe Weir said she wanted to stress the impact the incident could have had on her mum, who has only recently been well enough, and confident enough, to walk into the town centre.
In a Facebook appeal Zoe described her mum as vulnerable and believes the two elderly women were preyed on.
Christine Baldwin, manager of Peacocks in Haverhill, also posted on social media warning shoppers to be aware of pickpockets and vigilant with their personal belongings.
Police confirmed that one of the victims had her purse taken from the luggage compartment of her walking frame. The other purse was stolen from a handbag.
No arrests have been made and anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk Police quoting crime reference: 37/32894/24.
