Hundreds of exhibitors to feature at Clare Priory's Craft Fair

This year's Clare Priory Craft Fair will have over 200 exhibitors of traditional and contemporary crafts, food, drink and children’s entertainment when it takes place on July 14 and 15.

The fair is held in the 14th century Priory and its grounds set next to Clare Castle Country Park.

Visitors will be offered free guided tours of Clare Priory Church. The newly extended and Grade 1 listed scheduled monument which in 2015 won the Building Conservation Award and was named as the East of England Project of the Year by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Father David Middleton OSA, Parish Priest of Clare, Steven and Auriol Cubitt will lead the tours which will be every 2 hours, starting in the old church and lasting for about 30 minutes.

At last year’s Craft Fair there was a tremendous response to the invitation to tour the extended church, says Steven Cubitt, who was one of the guides. "The tours went very well on both days, and many of our visitors said they were bowled over at how beautiful the building was.

"The craft fair is a great family day out with some of our visitors having a holiday in the area so they can attend across the weekend every year. "

All proceeds are donated to local, national and international charities.
