A charity walk organised by the Joshua Tarrant Trust attracted double the number of entries that it did last year, when it was held in Haverhill on Sunday.

The Trust held the event at East Town Park and gave walkers the option of completing either a 2.5km or 5km route.

The Haverhill Lions Club manned the barbecue, as well as donating a cheque to the trust to cover the cost of hiring a section of the park.

Each walker received a medal, sponsored by ATM Construction, and certificate and children received a goody bag.

The fund-raising was also boosted by a tombola and raffle, taking the total raised to £1,506,44. Haverhill mayor, Cllr Tony Brown (who has made the Trust his mayoral charity) and deputy mayor, Cllr John Burns also attended the event.
