Prince and his attendants chosen for Wickhambrook Carnival

Wickhambrook Carnival & Flower Festival now has its own ‘Royalty’ in place for the big day after the selection of a Carnival Prince and his two attendants.

Dylan Arnold, ten, and his two attendants Kitty Green, nine, and Harry Newell, eight, were chosen at a beach party disco held on Friday, June 8 at Wickhambrook Primary Academy.

The judges for the evening were Margaret Gaykor and Claire Lockwood and Dylan was crowned by last year’s Carnival Prince Oscar Procter.

On the Carnival Day, which this year is on Saturday, July 14, Dylan and his two attendants will ride in an open top car and lead a book character themed walking’ procession, along with the Bury St Edmunds Sea Cadets Marching Band, fire engine, and classic cars.

The procession will leave from the local school at 12.30pm for a short trip around the village and back to the Recreation Ground.

From 1pm the ground will have numerous attractions and stalls, including a family dog show, car and bike show, inflatables, Punch & Judy and a circus workshop, Gemma’s Farm, stilt walker & fire eater, live music from Chedburgh Community Choir, entertainment and a display by the Chalkstone Karate Club.

There is also a children’s sports barbecue and a beer tent.

The Flower Show in the Memorial Social Centre will open at 2pm showing flowers, vegetables, produce, flower arrangements, handicrafts and children’s work from the local school.
