Haverhill man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder in Bury St Edmunds

A Haverhill man has become the third person to be arrested in connection with a stabbing at the end of last week in Bury St Edmunds.

The 29-year-old was arrested last night on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where he currently remains for questioning.

Officers were called shortly after 11.35pm on Friday, following reports that a man had been stabbed during an altercation with a group of four or five males in the car park outside The Moreton Hall pub in Lawson Place.

The victim – who is aged in his 20s - was taken by ambulance to hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Two men had already been arrested in connection with the attack.

A 24-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds was arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

He was questioned and subsequently released on bail until Monday, November 18 pending further enquires.

A 29-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds was also arrested shortly after the attack, in the early hours of Saturday.

He was questioned and subsequently released under investigation.
