Haverhill Arts Centre to be used by Barclays to provide some financial services once branch shuts down
Barclays is to provide some financial services to its customers through staff based in Haverhill Arts Centre after the bank closes its branch in the town in September.
The bank announced at the start of June that the branch in High Street will close at midday on Friday, September 8 due to falling footfall and because more people are banking online, by telephone or using the bank’s app.
A letter issued to customers said at the time: “We'll make sure you and your local community continue to have access to our banking services when you need them – it will just be in a different way.
“We’ll still be part of your community in Haverhill – we're just finalising the details of when and where we’ll be based to support you with your banking.”
The letter added that ‘plans for how it will continue to support Haverhill residents will be shared with them two weeks before the closure’.
Although that letter has yet to be sent out, an update has been placed on the Barclays app.
It says: “Barclays colleagues will be available to help you at Haverhill Arts Centre from 11 September on Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 4.30pm.

Barclays customers will be able to do their banking, such as paying in cash and cheques, at the Post Office in Haverhill’s High Street once the branch has closed.
