Taco Bell looking to open restaurant in Haverhill High Street

An American fast food chain is looking to open a restaurant in Haverhill.

Taco Bell has submitted proposals to West Suffolk Council for a new eatery at 47 High Street.

The premise is currently vacant, having previously been occupied by William Hill.

If approved, the restaurant would be able to provide 30 covers.

Ten full-time jobs and 10 part-time jobs would be created.

An application submitted by Beamish Planning Consultancy, on behalf of Taco Bell, said: "The proposed mixed restaurant and hot food takeaway use will make a positive contribution to the vitality and viability of Haverhill town centre, including its evening economy."

Taco Bell is the latest fast-food chain to express an interest in moving to Haverhill.

McDonald's put forward proposals to build a drive-through restaurant in Phoenix Road last year.
