Snow falls in Suffolk as cold weather is set to continue

Snow has fallen in some parts of Suffolk overnight.

Residents woke up to light snowfall in some areas of the county, as temperatures plummeted below freezing.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across the whole of Suffolk yesterday, which will remain in place until 10am this morning.

Pictures show a light dusting of snow in some areas of the county, and more could fall in the coming days with the cold temperatures set to remain.

Forecasters are predicting that tonight could be coldest night of the year, with temperatures to plunge well below freezing once again.

Met Office spokeseman Graham Madge said: “Temperatures will be much, much colder than we would expect at this time of year.

“The pattern will set in for some time. We have got this feed of cold air coming in from a much higher latitude.

“We expect these conditions to remain in place until at least next weekend and possibly longer because sometimes these conditions can be quite stubborn and not easily subject to change.”
