Felixstowe teenager suffering from tics becomes dog walker as 'animals don't judge'
A 16-year-old from Felixstowe has been inundated with support on social media after he shared how he struggled to find a job, because he experiences tics.
Finn Probert, who went to the Sir Bobby Robson School, in Ipswich had been suffering with mild tics for a few years, but during the last six months they have become much more severe.
The teenager, who is waiting to decide which college he is going to, said his tics 'got really bad overnight' but have now calmed down slightly thanks to the medication he is taking.
Even though Finn still has what he calls 'bad tic days', where he hits, screams and swears, he cannot be diagnosed with Tourettes until he has has experienced the symptoms for a year.
Finn said: "The tics are just so tiring and confusing, you get a strange surge feeling when you know you are about to get one and if you try and suppress them, it really hurts.
"Walking is a good way to get my adrenalin out, especially walking along the beach as it is quite calming."
"Sometimes I like to go right to the end of the beach and scream as it helps me get my tics out," added Finn, who also enjoys spending time with his pets: dog Rocky, two rats, and a hamster, because 'animals don't judge'.
Throughout the summer Finn had been struggling to find a job because employers were reluctant to take on anyone with tics.
Because his of his love of walking, and animals, his sister suggested that he could try offering his services as a dog walker.
After posting in the Felixstowe Residents Page Facebook group, Finn was bombarded with positive comments and messages.
Finn said: "I did not expect anyone to say anything, within minutes I was flooded with support and it was amazing - so it turns out it was a really good idea."
He received many comments and messages from people that suffer from tics, or have family members that do.
"It is good to know that there are other people that are going through the same thing", said Finn.
Finn, has already completed his first dog walking appointment and has another one lined up for next week.
