Ipswich and Felixstowe may suffer flooding after Environment Agency issues warning
A flood warning has been issued for parts of Suffolk.
The Environment Agency has declared that areas between Felixstowe and Clacton, including Ipswich, may be water-logged tomorrow as a flood alert is in force.
This means coastal roads and footpaths, including along the River Stour and Orwell estuaries, will likely experience some flooding.
This is due to an unseasonal low pressure system causing a small surge between 12:30am and 2:30am tomorrow.
The tide tomorrow afternoon is also forecast to carry a flood warning, the agency said, although it is not expected to escalate.
While the alert is in force, the flood gates at Felixstowe will be closed.
In addition, the waterfront at Pin Mill, and The Strand at Wherstead, under the Orwell Bridge, may be flooded and water may be on the quay at Mistley.
Residents have been warned to stay away from high-risk areas.
