Felixstowe neighbours celebrate after bagging £1 million People’s Postcode Lottery jackpot
A pair of neighbours from Felixstowe have woken up this morning to find themselves hundreds of thousands of pounds richer.
The two split the jackpot of the People’s Postcode Lottery’s Millionaire Street draw after their postcode, IP11 9TE, which covers a stretch of Westmorland Road, secured its £1 million prize.
Each ticket paid £333,333, but one of the lucky winners doubled their prize to £666,666.
Matt Johnson, Postcode Lottery ambassador, said: “We are delighted to give these two neighbours such wonderful news.
“To have just two winners in the postcode area means they will be celebrating that little bit more.
“We wish them all the best for the future with their life-changing windfalls.”
In addition to the jackpot, the Millionaire Street draw also means charities in the area will be granted funding.
This includes Suffolk Mind, which was handed £100,000.
In addition, Felixstowe Area Community Transport Limited, which offers transport services for the disabled and Felixstowe Youth Development Group, were each given £50,000.
Old Felixstowe Community Association was also handed £15,000.
Jon Neal, chief executive at Suffolk Mind, said the £100,000 injection was a significant boost and would go a long way to helping their efforts.
He added: “Demand for our services has been increasing ever since the charity was set up.
“In 2019 we were taking 700 calls per month and this has now increased to over 3,000 each month.
“We are at a point where more and more people in our community are reaching out to receive support with their mental health, so it is vital we are there for them.
The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £12 per month to play and winners are drawn every day.
A spokesperson for the organisation said it had raised more than £1.4 billion for good causes.
