A Bury St Edmunds food and drink wholesaler has launched a new local delivery service.

Thomas Ridley Foodservice, based in Rougham, has launched Ridley’s Local, designed to support all Bury St Edmunds food and drink businesses situated within five miles of the town.

The company says Ridley’s Local will provide Bury’s businesses with a ‘fast, more competitive and more sustainable’ delivery option.

It offers same-day delivery options, flexible delivery times and local products, as well as offering customers the full range of Thomas Ridley’s wholesale food and drink products.

Not just for the hospitality trade, any business in or around the town that needs to order drinks and refreshments through to cleaning supplies can take advantage of Thomas Ridley’s range of products

Emma Wade, sales manager, said: “We’re passionate about working better with local businesses and really hope that Ridley’s Local will offer something different, something that’s really needed in the town.

“Instead of trying to squeeze one of our large lorries around the quaint streets of Bury St Edmunds, or business-owners having to take time away from work to pick up much-needed products.

“This will be a super-speedy, flexible service, on a small, modern van - exclusive for customers in and around the town - with competitive pricing.”

Thomas Ridley was first established as a fine foods shop on Abbeygate Street just over 200 years ago.

Growing to stock and deliver more than 5,000 different wholesale food and drink products from its large base in Rougham, covering frozen, fresh, chilled and ambient goods, this new service has been designed to make it easier for Thomas Ridley to support local customers.

Emma added: “Ridley’s Local is all about supporting the amazing array of local, independent foodie businesses which we’re so lucky to have here in Bury St Edmunds, with great products coming straight from our depot down the road.

“By offering no minimum order and same-day delivery, we hope this service will be attractive to the town’s businesses and that you’ll soon see our brightly-coloured Ridley’s Local van zipping around the place.”
