Norwich CBS midfielder Danny White hoping for FA Vase upset against Stowmarket Town

Norwich CBS midfielder Danny White has said that his side are up for the challenge as they prepare to take on Stowmarket Town in the Buildbase FA Vase, writes Callum Parke.

CBS travel to Greens Meadow on Saturday (3pm) in the third round of the national competition after beating May & Baker last weekend.

Stow represent higher-level opposition, with CBS currently one tier below in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North.

But speaking ahead of the game, former Thetford Town manager White revealed his team were confident that they could pull off an upset.

“All the boys are excited and up for it. We all know how good Stowmarket are and the quality their players have got, but on the flip side of that it’s a cup game, 90 minutes, and all the pressure will be on them," he said.

“We know how difficult a task it will be but if we go and give it absolutely everything, who knows what could happen."

White joined CBS last season after four-and-a-half years with Premier Division outfit Thetford.

But the 37-year-old is no stranger to Stowmarket, and he remains on good terms with their recently-appointed manager Paul Musgrove.

That experience means he is under no illusions about the quality the weekend’s hosts possess.

He added: “Collectively and individually, they’re a very, very good side.

“They’ve got some top players who have played several levels above and I really felt for them last season (when they missed out on promotion).

“We know that they will be very strong and we’re really looking forward to the challenge."

CBS’ Vase run has been a silver lining in an otherwise unremarkable season so far.

The Bowthorpe-based side sit 19th in the league but are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions.

In the Vase, they have already beaten promotion-chasing league rivals March Town United and Ipswich Wanderers before the victory over May & Baker.

“At the start of the season, we didn’t have the players available that we needed, and it showed in certain games where we were lacking a clinical side," said White.

“Now we have three clinical strikers and results have reflected this.

“Winning games brings confidence, and it will bring even more confidence if we can knock out one of the favourites.”

A hundred tickets are available for the tie, which can be purchased here. All remaining tickets will be sold on the gate.
