VIDEO: Bury Town boss ‘we didn’t deserve to lose

‘We didn’t deserve to lose’ — that was the verdict of Bury Town manager Ben Chenery following his side’s 2-1 home loss to Maldon & Tiptree on Saturday.

After dominating the first half, but finding themselves trailing 2-1 at the interval after a brace from former Needham Market hotshot Sam Newson, with a reply in-between from Ollie Hughes, the Blues could not work an equaliser, despite putting their opponents under extended spells of pressure.

After the game, a frustrated Bury Town manager spoke to sports editor Russell Claydon, and admitted his side just ‘ran out of ideas’.

The result — making it one win in nine for the side relegated from the Ryman Premier last season — leaves Bury’s play-off hopes hanging by a thread with the gap to the top five now 13 points.

The west Suffolk Blues are in 11th place before heading to 19th place Witham Town tonight (Tuesday, January 26, 7.45pm) with both having won only once in their last six matches to put them 19th and 23rd in the form table, respectively.
