Woolpit (347-4) beat Frinton-on-Sea II (214-8) by 133 runs

Woolpit made it three wins out of three, joining Worlington as joint leaders of the league with a relatively comfortable home victory against Frinton-on-Sea II on Saturday.

Batting first, Will Parker and Jack Rowett continued their excellent form from the week before by having another century opening partnership.

This was eventually broken when Rowett was given out lbw for 64 and Parker was caught behind for 73.

Frinton came back into the game with the wickets of Geoff Pilgrim and Nathan Crudelli, but this brought James Holmes to the crease.

He proceeded to strike the ball to all parts of the ground to seriously increase the scoring rate. He went past 50, and then brought his first senior 100 up in just 46 balls.

He finished his brutal innings on 121 not out from only 52 balls and, along with Tom Whiteman who struck an unbeaten 51, they took the score to 347-4 at the end of 50 overs.

In reply, Frinton started steadily until opener Stubbs (7) fell at 30-1.

Wickets fell at reasonably regular intervals, making it very difficult for the visitors to attempt to reach their target.

The only resistance was put up by Price, who racked up a score of 108 before he was caught behind off the bowling of Parker.

The innings eventually finished on 214-8.

Woolpit next face Mistley away tomorrow (1pm).
