Melanson set to return to Thetford on opening weekend

Max Melanson is set for a quick reunion with his former club Thetford Town when Stowmarket Town host the Brecklanders on the opening weekend of the 2018/19 Thurlow Nunn League season.

The first fixtures for the upcoming campaign have been released, with Melanson’s new club Stow to host Thetford in the Premier Division on Saturday, August 4.

Melanson topped the scoring charts at Mundford Road last season, netting 28 times in 50 games, before joining up with Stow this summer.

The Old Gold and Blacks then travel to Premier Division new-boys Framlingham Town on Tuesday, August 7, while Thetford entertain Great Yarmouth Town on the same night.

* Stow started their pre-season friendly schedule with a 9-1 win against Bradenham Wanderers on Tuesday.

* Walsham-le-Willows begin their Premier Division campaign with a trip to another newly-promoted side, Woodbridge Town, on Wednesday, August 8, while their first home league game will be against Long Melford on Saturday, September 8.

* Lakenheath’s first ever match at Step 6 in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North will see them travel to Debenham LC on August 4.

The versatile Sam Hawley has arrived at The Pit following a two-season stint with Haverhill Borough, while former Mildenhall Town, Ely City and Haverhill Rovers winger Kelvin Enaro has signed on the dotted line.

Goalkeeper Joseph Clements has also agreed a move, as has full back Connor Wilkinson and defender Jordan Baker.
