Norwich City column: Jacob Sorensen and Onel Hernandez need to depart Carrow Road after great service
Norwich City fans, you are forgiven for not being overly excited about the end to the season.
Defeat at Bristol City prior to the international break almost certainly put an end to what can only be described as an already faltering play-off bid.
But even with promotion firmly off the cards, there is still plenty that can be gained from the final eight games, a run that starts with a visit from West Brom tomorrow.
In this week's column, I want to focus on the cohort of players whose contracts expire this summer. It's not a stretch to say the likes of Angus Gunn, Jacob Sorensen and Onel Hernandez are playing for their Carrow Road futures between now and May.
My personal feeling is that it's time for Hernandez and Sorensen to move on. Both have been great servants, but we need to look forward in the quest for progression.
No one can doubt Onel's loyalty and passion, but his continued lack of output can no longer be ignored, sadly.
As for Lungi, I certainly feel he has been harshly treated by fans this season. A scapegoat by all accounts.
However, I just can't look beyond his injury record, something which has most certainly hampered his development in recent years.
And then you come to Gunn, in what can only be described as a real head vs heart decision.
Because of the family connection, there has always been something special about having Angus between the sticks. A Norwich boy who knows what it means to represent this club.
For that reason, it would be incredibly sad to see him depart – something which would have seemed ludicrous a year ago.
But his performances this season have certainly been a concern, particularly when you consider he is one of our highest paid players, and have led us to this point.
With that in mind, if ever there was time for Angus to rediscover his best form, now is it.
