Copdock & Old Ipswichian (186-2) beat Bury St Edmunds (185-7) by eight wickets

Bury St Edmunds CC sit at the bottom of the league after three matches, having failed to secure their first win of the season against Copdock.

The team travelled to Copdock and batted first, holding out for a total of 55 minutes before opener Justin Bishop’s wicket fell for 10.

Ben Curran (37) was batting well but for the second week got an unlucky dismissal.

Captain Sean Cooper (39*) held firm with excellent support from Mark Nunn (49) to boost Bury’s score to 185-7 in the 50-over limit.

Copdock batted carefully after a big call in the first over was turned down by the umpire.

Copdock put 70 runs on the board before ex-Essex player Jak Mickleborough was caught and bowled for 47 by James McKinney, with JackBeaumont well stumped for 7 soon afterto give Bury a glimmer of hope.

However, Martyn Cull (87*) and Archie Gravell (38*) remained not out to take the home side to victory.

Bury St Edmunds are away to Frinton-on-Sea tomorrow (11am).
