Bury boss Chenery calls for patience
Ben Chenery has outlined the patience needed by Bury Town’s fans as The Blues look to get promoted ‘the right way’.
Bury (10th) host Phoenix Sports (12th) tomororw (3pm), with the brakes having been put on their play-off push after four straight defeats, leaving them seven points off the Ryman League Division One North’s top five.
But although Blues boss Chenery says there will not be big signings coming in to turn things around, things are still moving in the right direction .
“There is loads to play for,” he said. “People will feel very down but we are progressing well from where we were last season.
“When I took this job on, the football club was in a terrible state and we got relegated.
“We are getting good crowds in and are in a better position than we were this time last year, so it is positive.
“Of course, when you do well expectation rises, but unfortunately we haven’t got the riches that Needham and Sudbury had when they got out of this league.
“So we have got to persevere. I have got to coach youngsters and make them better. I will give them game time and they will make mistakes, so I have got to be careful and understanding of that with them. And then next year they will be better and the next year better.
“And that is what we are trying to do here and we will do it the right way, so the club thrives, and that is the only way to do it (for us).”
