Ballet dancers from Bury St Edmunds Ballet School and the Ann Holland School of Theatre Dance set to perform Swan Lake with the English Youth Ballet
Two young ballet dancers from the Bury St Edmunds area have been chosen to take part in the English Youth Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake.
Alana Lane, 15, who studies at the Bury St Edmunds Ballet School, is one of the girls who was selected as part of the 92-strong cast.
She will be joined by nine-year-old Scarlett Williams who goes to Barrow Primary School and studies dance at the Ann Holland School of Theatre Dance, also in the village.
Alana and Scarlett are currently experiencing the life of a professional dancers in rehearsals after being selected from a competitive auditions process.
They will perform alongside international professional dancers at the Norwich Theatre Royal between Friday July 21 – Saturday July 22.
Lyndsey Fraser, EYB principal, who will be starring as the Black Swan in the production, said: “I wish I had danced with EYB when I was young.”
She continued: “The dancers learn so much about performance skills and the artistry of ballet. I love working as a principal dancer with EYB because I get to dance fantastic roles and teach and watch the young dancers progress.
“The sets and costumes in the production are superb and the whole experience is one the young dancers, and the audiences, will never forget!”
