Hardwick Primary School pupil Kylie Turner, of Bury St Edmunds, has hair cut off to raise funds for the Little Princess Trust
A brave seven-year-old pupil has had her long locks cut off in front of her school in a bid to raise funds for a charity.
Kylie Turner, of Bury St Edmunds, had the idea when she was brushing her hair in the mirror at her home and asked her mum, Lucy, if she could have it cut to donate it to children with cancer.
In an assembly in front of the whole of Hardwick Primary School on March 26, Lucy cut the first locks of her daughter’s hair before Sophie Suttle, a former hairdresser and a teaching assistant at school, cut the rest.
A total of 15 inches of Kylie’s hair was cut off and about £700 was raised for the Little Princess Trust through social media, sponsorship forms and also a non-uniform day at the school.
Lucy said: “Kylie has such beautiful hair, so when she told us she wanted to get it cut we were shocked, but so incredibly proud that she'd thought of doing it to help others.
“Kylie is a lively, thoughtful and kind person and she definitely knows her own mind.
“We were totally on board and willing to support her idea and it was without any influence from us as well which shows what an amazing girl she is.”
