Residents in West Suffolk are being urged to be vigilant to a scam asking for bank details to give a council tax rebate.
West Suffolk Council says it has been made aware of a scam targeting residents saying they are due a council tax refund and asking for their bank details.
He council spokesman said: "The council would never ask for bank details to pay a refund and is warning residents not to fall for this scam.
"Please pass this message on to friends and family.
"If you receive a call like this simply put the phone down."
