West Suffolk College students go the extra mile in 24-hour charity sports challenge
After rowing, running and pedaling for 24 hours, two teams of sports students at West Suffolk College have raised more than £2,000 for charity.
The 38 exhausted students from the Level 3 Sport Extended Diploma at the college only took one 45 minute sleep break and very brief rest periods for the gruelling challenge.
The two teams competed against each other to cover the most distance and raise the most money for charities CLIC Sargent, Bury Bombers Wheelchair Basketball Club, West Suffolk Autism and Help the Heroes.
Tom Driscoll, 17, of Bury said: “It’s been difficult but I’m competitive so I didn’t want to lose against the other team and that kept me going.” Harry Shaplan, 17, of Bury, decided to go a step further and shave his head to raise extra cash.
