Nature-based setting for children near Bury St Edmunds, run by Limitless Futures, celebrates first anniversary

A setting that provides outdoor education and wellbeing support to children who struggle to access school is celebrating its first anniversary.

At Cavenham, near Bury St Edmunds, alternative provision provider Limitless Futures CIC runs a nature-based setting for young people aged six to 16 who are anxious or withdrawn and require a different approach to learning.

The organisation delivers arts, bush crafts, gardening and wellbeing activities for young people who find typical social group activities hard or have experienced school burnout.

The organisation said it had established a small but thriving community of children and support workers, including teachers and psychology practitioners, over the last 12 months.

It is now poised to show what’s on offer to SEND (special educational needs and/or disabilities) families at an open day on Wednesday, April 9.

Catherine Crouch, co-founder at Limitless Futures, said: "It’s been amazing to witness the positive impact on the children who access our sessions.

“We are passionate about creating a supportive, nurturing environment where every young person can thrive."

Catherine added that feedback from parents had been ‘heartwarming’, with messages such as this from the mother of one of the current children: “After years of trying to fit in, we have finally found a place where we belong.

“It is so lovely to see our daughter getting her sparkle back, feeling safe enough to be herself.”

The open day will allow families to explore the 20-acre nature-based provision and enjoy a taster of the arts, bush crafts, gardening and wellbeing activities, added Catherine.

“It will be an opportunity to meet the team and learn more about the kind of support we provide and hear about the summer sessions that will be on offer. It will be a relaxed day to connect, play and discover.”

Tickets for the morning and afternoon sessions on Wednesday are free and must be booked in advance through this website.
